Caitlyn Hynes is a Sports Emmy-winning documentary editor born, raised, and based in Los Angeles. She is trained as a researcher, producer, and journalist, and has a Master’s degree in journalism from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism, and a Bachelor’s degree in history from Pomona College.
She both edited and story-produced on Hulu's Emmy-nominated documentary series Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers, and recently edited two upcoming series for HBO Documentary Films and Hulu, respectively. She was also both an additional editor and a co-producer on the popular Netflix documentary Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal and Greed, and co-produced LANCE, an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on cyclist Lance Armstrong, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020.
Caitlyn won the Bryce Nelson Award for Distinguished Journalism for her long-form investigative reporting on the Jefferson Drill Site in South Los Angeles, and the short documentary about the drill site, Behind These Walls, was selected for the several popular film festivals, including the 2021 DC Environmental Film Festival and Dances with Films. It also won Best Cinematography at the Documentary Film Festival. Her short documentary Kendall: Aging Disabled (2016), was featured on ImpactTV.
A former college softball player, Caitlyn now loves trying new sports in her spare time, like cycling, disc golf, and ice skating.
